Jacob Johnson has been a lifetime student of the job. He got into the Katy Fire Department on June 9, 2000, at just15 years old. He was a junior member of the department assigned to explorer post 800. In his own words “I was basically a glorified water boy for all the firefighters who were on the scene of a fire, but I was able to train with them every week and ride the apparatus when there was an open seat. They showed me the importance of training but even more having a passion and love for the job.” Throughout the years he has moved up in the ranks and changed departments in 2007. He was one of the original career members ever hired by the Pearland Fire Department where he currently sits today as a proud member of the B shift as a Battalion Chief. He has taught at numerous schools around Texas and has started traveling the national circuit teaching his class Mentoring the Young. He also teaches for FD Tactics LLC ran by Chief Howard Rinewalt. Jacob holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and numerous professional and technical certifications. He is first a Husband and a Father to a beautiful family back home. Wife Lauren and son Luke. He enjoys hunting and playing golf on days off. If you cannot find him there, he will be in his office at home enjoying a book, magazine, or podcast with a glass of Jameson in hand. The fire service is his passion but mentoring and seeing others succeed is what drives his soul and defines his mission.
