Kiel Samsing is a lieutenant with the Newport News Fire Department. Kiel is also a part-time firefighter for the West Point Volunteer Fire Department. The dichotomy between these two response areas gives Kiel an insight that few have, true urban and true rural experience. Kiel has been an instructor at the South Atlantic Fire Rescue Expo, Emerald Coast Emergency Services Conference, Andy Fredericks Training Days, Art of Firemanship, and the Firemanship Conference Portland. He has been an FDIC H.O.T. lead instructor and classroom instructor. He specializes in engine work and decision-making using the OODA Loop.
