Ryan Gates entered the fire service in 2005. Over the past 17 years he has served the public on a multitude of different apparatus as he rose through the ranks. With a broad range of experiences from engine and truck work, to special operations and command roles, he is committed to sharing information and experiences. Along with a handful of other mavericks, rogues and go-getters, Ryan helped create and currently hosts the Truck Company Misfits Podcast. Ryan is also the co-owner of Soda City Training, facilitating fire training to public organizations and private industry. He is currently the Assistant Chief of the Cayce (SC) Fire Department, responsible for operations, training and officer development. He earned his A.S. in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University, is a devoted husband to his far too supportive wife Paige, and is the father of two beautiful daughters.
